This show is racist because the actors are white painted with, what they called back then "black face," which is just black paint covering up their their faces, also the show revolves around african american lives and many of the things these people do are considered typical things african americans do.

Amos and Monkey.

what would it take for these actors to get their long overdue stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
-
It's amazing that the African American community can be looking at the same color and swear it's different --- The travesty is that this wonderful past time show and talented actors have been trashed!
-
...and I suppose "Sanford & Sons" and "Good Times did wonders to improve the "degrading all members of" your "ethnicity as it both protrays and supports the portrayal of all African Americans as ignorant feeble minded fools" --- it seems Cosby/NAACP effectively put down the one show who, hands down, are above the previously mentioned shows in talent and humor!

I wondered why this show was classified as racist. I knew people in the army both black and white who loved the show. None were offended by it. I never saw it as racist but a charactertization. It was like thew Beverly Hillbillies. They were not real people and neither were Amos n' Andy. Both shows were comedy period. You have to admit it is a lot more creative in its simplicity than copedy shows aired today.

If this is racist then the Beverly Hillbillies is regional and Petticoat Junction was demeaning to small town people and Green Acers was demeaning to farmers.
Get over yourselves already!

This is nothing but an example of great TV programming in the early 1950s. This is comedy and totally entertaining. (of course, it would NOT be appropriate now ... but nobody took this show literally as like anyone, of any race, really was.) Great entertainment. (And yes, thank God we have made a lot, but ot enough, progress in treating everyone alike and with respect and the same rights.) But this IS GREAT ENTERTAINMENT. Just enjoy it for what it is (and don't take this out of context.

Get get lynched monkey.
God Bless You Tube for looking at the Political Correctness Nazis and saying FUCK YOU.
We can't move forward if we can look at where we've been. and Rappers do far worse for those of African decent than Amos and Andy do.

Can anyone actually explain what is racist about this show? Or rather, tell me what the writers would have changed about the characters had they all been white? Apart from the (possibly) over the top 'Harlem' talk I don't think anything would be different.
The sad thing is this was the first time black actors had been given starring roles in a tv show and it was snatched away from them.
From what I've seen of 'Sanford & Son' it doesn't look that far removed from 'Amos & Andy'. Times change.
