Hard Time for Jerry - Full Scene

Scene where Jerry gets out of his car to scrape the ice on the windows. Extract from Fargo, a film by the Coen brothers, Joel and Ethan, 1996, 1997 and 2008 Academy Awards winners, starring William H. Macy, Steve Buscemi, Peter Stormare, Frances McDormand.

  • 10mintwo: You nailed it..One of my favorite scenes. of all time

  • A single car, in a barren, snow-filled parking lot, broken only by a background of solitary leafless planted trees, and a single pair of power lines following the rule of thirds perfectly. Near Kubrick level genius.

  • This whole movie is brilliant and the imagery is beautiful... all that snow!

  • ahahahaha! william H macy plays 'Jerry' down to perfection

  • I don't think anyone is missing that.

  • That was today for me.

  • I think, while of course the ice does irritate H. Macy, that people are kind of skipping over the main purpose of this scene.

It's his realization that he fucked up and that he shouldn't have organized his wife to be kidnapped (which he realizes went underway soon after), mixed with not being able to get the money he desires. Of course, this is mixed with ice being a pain in the dick to chip off. =P

  • He has the most brilliant plan of all time in this movie

  • Cohens are brilliant.

  • In reality, everybody in Minnesota knows that they need to warm the car up first, doncha know. And I have authority to say that, being a Minnesotan myself, and darned-tootined proud of that. ;)
