also said "to act boldy and wisely on thee ecomony " oh yes it is very wise to spend a 787 billion dollar plan PLUS more. Big spending doesn't work if you want to fight a recession. Look at Hoovers big big spending plans or Roosevelts "New Deal" plan. They did not pull America outta the depression...why will this?

Which Bush are you talking about? The highest unemplyment under GW was just over 6% and was also under 4% during his presidency. It went higher in the 2nd term - Democrat controlled congress - they are the ones who actually spend our money - not the President.

ripley, you really have no idea what you're talking about. This "mess" was started because government starting fiddling with the mortgage industry - forcing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to make loans to people who were not credit-worthy and in the end could not repay their loans.

Wall street gambled on those mortgages and lost. They should have pulled back their bets when the government got involved. That is the root of all these problems.
