For more than three centuries in Medieval Spain, Muslims, Jews and Christians lived together and prospered in a thriving multicultural civilization. Here, remarkable individuals of different faiths made lasting contributions in such areas as poetry, art, architecture, music, dining etiquette, science, agriculture, medicine, engineering, navigation, textiles, and even hydraulic technology.

Their rich, complex culture reached a high point in the Mediterranean Middle Ages. However, larger forces in conquest of land and power brought about puritanical judgments, absolutism and religious extremism. The conflict they triggered extinguished the shared learning that once flourished in this enlightened land

Qur'an (3:28) - "Let not the believers Take for friends or helpers Unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah: except by way of precaution, that ye may Guard yourselves from them" PROOF for you!

As a Muslim, I don't agree with the part that Muslims drink alcohol but I do agree it's okay for Muslims to mingle with the Christians and Jews. These puritanical Muslims didn't preach the proper teachings of Islam. They were Al-Qaeda or Talibans of medieval Spain.

Muslims are permitted only to strike in a self-defense combat and that Muslims are to stop attacking those who have surrendered or injured people who don't have the strength to attack you. So, when an offensive person has stopped attacking you, you must also stop because doing otherwise transgresses God. God doesn't like the starters of war. Innocent people who are not involved in the combat cannot be attacked and should be treated with kindness.

Who says that non-Muslims cannot have authority over Muslims? Who says Muslims can't mingle with non-Muslims? Where in the Qur'an & Hadith that says that? That preacher is an extremist that instigates Muslims to hate non-Muslims. In any part of the world, Muslim has to respect their leaders due to their just leadership regardless of their religious faith. Religion is a personal matter & everyone should accept a religion out of their own freewill.
