The University of Rhode Island is a small, beautiful place and a major research center. URI offers nearly 80 majors, including unique, interdisciplinary, and international programs. We also offer merit scholarships to international students. In addition to the 1,200 acre Kingston campus, there is a 200-acre Bay Campus and a non-residential campus in the heart of downtown Providence. URI has 12,800 undergraduate students from 55 US states and territories and 61 countries, with a student to faculty ratio of 14 to 1. URI is accredited by The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC); College of Business Administration: AACSB, International; Engineering programs: ABET, Inc.; Pharmacy: Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE); The Child Development Center: National Association for the Education of Young Children; The School of Education: National Council for Accreditation for Teacher Education (NCATE); The International Engineering Program: Recognized by the US Department of Educations Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) as the first program of its kind in the nation; URI is a consortia member of the College Consortium for International Study and the Council for International Educational Exchange. URI has 30 Honor Societies as well as an Honors Program that offers opportunities that broaden and enhance the educational experience; International Honors Colloquium; Purposely designed honors classes; Specially selected faculty; Upper-class apartment style housing; Individualized study and funded research opportunities; Honors distinction at graduation. Honors students have won prestigious scholarships including the Morris K. Udall Scholarship, Phi Metcalf Scholarship, NSF Graduate Fellowship, Fulbright Scholarship, and Truman and Goldwater Scholarships.
