As a nation, we don't carry the same weight...trying to punch above our weight in fact! We are no longer an empire, and that should be recognized by us. Ireland is it's own country. Of course they speak English...over 750 years of occupation...it was bound to happen. Don't knock them for speaking English, better than we do, much of the time.

its all there,brutal on both sides,cromwell had ordered no brutality against cilivilians on pain of death,but areas were there were resistance no quarter given,cromwell also sorted out loyalists in the north to,so if the irish would have kept out of it,cromwell wouldnt have invaded.not saying it was right what he did,just you cant put todays values on what happend then
