Insurance companies have already run rampant. Read the studies. The public offering would have redistributed high-risk patients, instead of not insuring them or concentrating them in public sector programs.

Gov't isn't limiting competition - its offering the public what doesn't currently exist. As for "no money" - We have not money because the balance budget left by Clinton was exploded by Bush tax cuts (subsidies to the rich), 2 unfunded wars. THAT's why we have no money.

The stimulus did work. It sustained the economy - we didn't fall into a cliff. Every economist asserts w/o question, the best fuel is "consumer spending". The deficit w/suffer initially - but once perm employment is up, tax revenues also rise. A simplified version - but nonetheless true. Remember, the hole was deep. very deep. Clearly, bush tax cuts haven't helped have they. the super rich are NOT fueling the economy inspite of maintaining their gov't subsidies aka tax cuts.

@2bpilot What exactly would you like him to stop spending money on? How about not spending ridiculous amount of money on defense (1.5 trillion in 2010). Whats the point of sending troops and armaments to the middle east to shoot at caves? It was the brainchild of George Bush but Obama is continuing it (even though he stated he wanted to end it). How about letting the middle east kill each other and have americans worry on domestic issues?

@2bpilot health care is a hit with the people who needed it passed. it is all ready saving lives. people with preexisting health problems will now be insured . insurance companies can not deny coverage to people who have been paying . The stimulus package wasn't designed to bring us 'great fortune" . it was designed to prevent more job loss and a depression, which it did. please tell me the bad ideas you are referring to. and do you really think he still has no experience ?
