That's not necessarily true either. It is an excellent choice especially in restoring back teeth because it has superior compressive strength as compared to composite material. What makes composite a better option for the patient is that it is esthetically pleasing, along with the fact that it lacks mercury in its ingredients. From a professional stand point, the advancement in composite bonding technology is what is making it more predictable.

There is no clear evidence in the dental literature that says so. However, most European countries don't use it anymore.
