If they hired a sniper, the Children would easily read his thoughts and make him shoot himself. Then the Children would just go about taking retribution on the villagers. And more terrifying soon, little David states "Soon we'll have reached a stage where we can form NEW colonies". This week, Turner Classic movies showed this film right after Robert Wise's THE HAUNTING. 2 of the scaries movies ever made, from two of the scariest novels ever written in the English Language.

Well, they didn't exhibit much "enlightenment" here, did they? To answer your question: Man is good by nature because he was made by God and for God, but that nature is fallen. Thus do we have evil in the world.

However, as Chesterton once said, "Progress is a comparative of which we have not settled the superlative." Ponder that for a while.

(Hint: We can't know what "better" is unless we know what "best" is, and we can't know that without knowing truth.)

By that logic, all beings in space were made by god, wether they resemble Earth-humans physically or not.

Yes, that's absolutely correct. Assuming other beings exist, they would have been created by God as well.

Well, while your later comment was indicative of a poor philosophical foundation, I do respect the humility you display here.

Well, the Soviets were evil, but it's not correct to say that such a solution couldn't have been effected here. If the nation found itself in such a situation, a grave national emergency, a command decision could be made by the commander-in-chief (the president) and such a thing could be done if the survival of the nation were at stake. Martial law could be declared if necessary, and this would suspend the Constitution.

First of all John Carpenter never disappoints me (he made Halloween, The Thing, The Fog, Christine, Prince of Darkness, Memoirs of an Invisible Man, In the Mouth of Madness, Ghosts of Mars...) So, I knew this movie will be great in advance.
Village of the Damned proves that horror movie can be scary/intriguing without that bloody and brutal scenes - real horror masterpiece!!!
Christopher Reeve and Kirstie Alley were perfect!
