http://www.EmploymentCrossing.com Ticketmaster will lay off 300 employees, or 5 percent of its global workforce, as part of a previously announced cost-cutting plan, the Los Angeles Times reports. In August, West Hollywood, California-based Ticketmaster said it would reduce operating expenses by $35 million as it integrated two companies, ticketing technology maker Paciolan and ticket reseller TicketsNow, both of which it acquired earlier this year. Ticketmaster's rights to sell tickets to Live Nation events expires at the end of this year. Concert promoter Live Nation plans to launch its own rival ticketing service to manage its own events as well as those managed by other companies. Ticketmaster makes it easier for you to purchase event tickets, by enforcing a near-total monopoly and then charging a service charge, a facility charge, a processing charge and a ticket delivery charge.
