This weeks 'technique of the week' (kids) illustrates how size is far from the deciding factor regarding functional take downs, and in this case, the focus is the standard "hip toss". Here you will see Robbie good (90lb) executing a series of hip tos with Coach Joe (200lb) as the Uke, and example. You will also see Donny Welsh of our Jr's program performing the same technique while also utilizing Coach Joe as the Uke (technique receiver). By exposing our kids to Judo early, they will be able to incorporate take downs into their games at an early age, which will undoubtedly benefit them in the future, and could easily be the deciding factor on more then half the matches that they will participate both on the mats of the academy, and on the mats of a competition venue. As always, thanks for watching, and please stay tuned for week by week video publication.
