Approximately eight months ago, I was approached by a friend who had written a poem. Over coffee, we discussed the possibility of turning this poem, Joan the Stone, over into the visual medium. Because there was no solid storyline, or sequence of events, to start a film, I had to pen an eight page screenplay to better help us into turning this into a short film. It was the first time I have ever written a 'properly formatted' screenplay. This was her first time ever acting for something strictly film-related. Preparations began in early October, and we began shooting in mid-November ending somewhere around the end of December. Editing took place shortly after, and we ran into some delays that were audio related. About a month ago, the film picked up it's momentum, recordings were done, and all post production was finished on May 28th, 2011.

May I add that this isn't a fantastic display of visuals, or gripping story that brings you to the edge of your seat, but more of a learning experience for a group of emerging dramatists, film directing and acting, in the middle of nowhere Kansas. And also a stepping stone, for many future projects.

The musical piece is an original composition written by Jonathan Scherr, of Garden City, KS, who we lost in September of 2010. This film is dedicated to him.
