How can you say it's not a bug when the F stop suddenly increases while zooming? A camera shouldn't do that!

Isn't that bizarre? I got mine when it first came out, had EXACT same problem, notified Kodak, never got an answer. Returned it. Too bad, they shouldn't release something with a bug like this, IMO

I noticed that my recording time was drastically reduced witjh the jump from 1.0 to 1.05. I have an 8gb SD that was giving me a little over 2hrs at 720p, which is now reporting as 1:17 mins! Is this the same for everyone or do I need to contact Kodak?

just taken my Zi8 to 1.05 and I agree, it's an exposure issue not a bug.
Be fair, we're not going to be at max zoom in low light anyway.
The zoom improvement is ace, (pity I didn't do this yesterday before my daughter was on stage picking up an award.
I understand form another forum that file sizes are now bigger - pointing to an increase in data rate - that should improve quality. The Zi8 is already a leader in this respect but I don't mind an improvement when SDHC cards are pretty cheap.

Yes mine did and my friend didn't upgrade to 1.05 yet and has the same problem as well as a few other people on the Amazon Zi8 forum pre 1.05.

I also had the same issue with 1.03. Just got my Zi8 yesterday and filmed my kids for 15mins at 720p/60. As I zoomed in, it got darker. I just upgraded to 1.05 and it still does it. It does it on 720p and WVGA as well. 1080p is fine for me too.

i suggest to contact kodak about this so they fix it next firmware update.

That problem was with 1.03 too... also it doesn't do it at 1080p.
