Camp Bison

Camp Bison is located near Estaire, 5 km south of the City of Sudbury. Camp Bison was constructed in 1958 at a cost of $2.6 million, and was built as a minimum security counterpart to the much larger Burwash correctional facility.

If anyone reading this decides to go to Camp Bison this fall, they might witness the demotion crew demolishing it! I really feel that whoever decides to do this has a responsibility to photograph or film this historic event, since it is our last chance. I would talk to the police or demo crew to see if they would allow it. Or walk on foot through the woods.

We tried to go there yesterday(oct,5th, 2009), but the road before the tracks are blocked with concrete blocks and has been trenched out in two places. There is no way to get past them, even with a quad. Also, don't leave your vehicle unattended anymore. There has been many vehicles that some a-holes are wrecking and breaking into them. I was told a year ago that there was an alternate entrance, but have yet to find it.

really? when is that happening? Who would pay for that? It would cost millions, theres no road! and a swamp to get through.

my buddies went yesterday, and theres a good 40 people going monday, so it is still standing, its hell to get there though, its an hour walk from the road

@nathan710chr thanks for the response i was looking at it on google maps satalight thing it looks like the road gos from the train tracks right back a few km to the prison...you say there is a swamp? is is along this road im talking about. i plan on heading up in a few weeks going on foot tho...the sound of a swamp dose not sound very good tho

@PTEredmond hey i went on saturday... its realy hard to get back unless u have a quad.. there is realy deep water/swamp.... but i made it back with a toyota... and i can get on the tracks further down.... u have to drive down the middle of the tracks to get there tho

@pilotrt i was so close to that place today i to was stopped at the cement blocks and the deep trench at the tracks. i walked on foot a few hundred meters but never went all the way back to the camp. google maps shows the building as still there i never got within range to see it dident even no where it was but i went looking for it. todays date is sept 22,2010 theres a military (army) rifle range at the main road only seen few small trucks there herd weapons fire at the back near tracks :)

im going there at the end of the month. idk what the roads are like now but i know someone who was tehre last week and got in and out fine.
