In this video, Diana begins the child's sweater by explaining how to choose the yarn and what the information on the label means. Then she shows an assortment of ways to prepare the yarn before knitting, including using a yarn winder, winding on a stick, and stripping into a bucket. Please visit Diana's blog at http://diananatters.blogspot.org and the Austin machine knitting club website at www.knitnatters.com.

  • @TracyKMainwaring Try loosening your upper tension unit - that may help.

I do like my yarn wound very loosely, so that wouldn't hurt, either.

  • I think I've been winding my yarn too tightly. Might that account for my too small row gauges?
