DECATUR, GA - James C. is financially stranded because a car dealership is financially struggling.
"All that credit that you've been building for all these years and take great pride in, it's going to be ruined in just a few months," he said Wednesday night leaning against his new truck.
In September, James bought that truck at the Premier Chrysler Jeep Dodge Dealership in Decatur. He traded in his old truck.
"I said, 'Well, you know, I'm kind of upside down on this car.' And he said, 'No problem. They're giving these cars away," James remembers.
He points on the specifics in his contract: the dealership agreed to pay off the trade-in. The salesman's "no problem" is now a big problem. Last week, James received a bill: payment was late on his trade-in. He hasn't seen the car in more than a month. He doesn't even know where it is.
