Well, I have a 7 gallon fish tank with about 7 fish in. Its getting too crowded so I aquired a 20 Gallon. I transfered old objects like the statue and plants(fake). I added new water plus a couple glasses of old water to the new tank. I declorinated the water and added cycle solution too it. I am now letting my tank cycle. Im probably missing some important info so if you have advice please help me out. I have fish that are supposed to be sturdy.

2 Cherry Barbs (getting more)
3 Harlequin rasboras (gona get more soon)
2 Furcata rainbow
2 Otto Catfish

Im still new to keeping fish so any advice is appreciated. I need to learn somewhere.

  • otto's don't generally do well in new tanks I don't believe. I'd keep the Ottos in the old tank for a few months.

  • Ok, Will Do :) Thanks

  • The fastest way to cycle a new tank is to get used "media" like a filter or cartridge from another established tank. Adding objects from another tank helps. Another great option is putting the new filter/cartridge in the old tank so it can obsorb the beneficial bacteria. Then put it in the new tank.

Bottled bacteria is kinda lame because it must be freezed. By the time you buy it, the bacteria could be dead.

    Nice tanks.

  • @buddhasknowbest Good advice!

  • you shouid be fine just wait about a day watch my vids

  • Don't cycle with lots of fish. Use 1 or 2 Hardy Fish and test your nitrATE and nitrITE and ammonium levels.

  • i would get some bacteria in ya tank. it will help push ur cycle and it will only be like 2 weeks. go to your closest fish aqurium store and ask them for bacteria in a bottle that will help cycle your tank. they know what im talking about. :)

  • i'd recommend getting an air stone or a bubbler of some sort to get oxygen circulating in the water :). also some live plants (floating plants are really easy to take care of) will be really beneficial to your fish too..
