WTCN-TV became WUSA-TV on July 4, 1985. 11 months later WUSA-TV was renamed KARE-TV. This opening is from November 1985, the opening theme and graphics are similar to what was used in the WTCN days and the first few weeks of becoming KARE. Paul Magers, Diane Pierce, Paul Douglas, Tom Ryther.

  • Why was WUSA was short lived?

  • Gannet purchased a station in Washington DC, and then transfered the call letters to that station. The WTCN call letters had already been registered by a low power TV station in Florida. In June 1986 WUSA became KARE.
