This song was written by Leonard Lipton and Peter Yarrow and made popular by the group Peter, Paul and Mary in a 1963 recording. The lyrics tell a story of the ageless dragon Puff and his playmate Jackie Paper, a little boy who grows up and loses interest in the imaginary adventures of childhood and leaves Puff alone and depressed.

Yes, another trip down Memory Lane for many of us! I used to love the P.P.& Mary songs. This was one of the first songs I taught my group of seven-year-olds when I started teaching in the 'sixties. I used it to show how things that may appear quite frightening may just be strange and possibly a cause for good. There's nothing scarey under my bed - but what is in it is another story!
