An up close view - a Florida Black Bear was foraging in the bushes near the edge of the river I was canoeing on. By chance we heard a noise and noticed this guy, who seemed careless to the fact that we were so close and took the opportunity to capture on video.

The bear lost its footing and slipped, but it appears it may have been a bluff charge... which is common for a bear, either way, this is a catch I don't get very often.

  • were you scared

  • @jpdalton70 the bluff charge made me jump but other than that I was not worried, else i wouldn't have hung around for so long

  • Now that's a better catch than any ol' train. :-) At one moment it appeared it was trying to scare you. I saw a lot of poison ivy in there too. Real nice!

  • @SFLRailFan At first I thought it was trying to scare us.. but my buddy who was steering the boat says that from his angle the bear lost its footing while standing on the side of the bank, which is why it made that move. I love bears anyways so this was a great catch.
