No, it never self sustained. I made the combustion chamber a bit smaller but I must have went the wrong way because it never ran at all after that :(

@evildrome The whole construction should be cylindrical, remember this engine is optimized with resonance, there is no square trumpet, or square tube or square saxophones at all.

Square is perfectly OK for the X-section. It wouldn't have worked for the actual bend in the pipe of course.
