No one ever got fat from drinking a can or 2 of soda a day.

The is a strong correlation between the time HFCS was being added to the nation's diet in ever increasing amounts (1970s) and the rise in the nation's obesity.
-
In 1980 Coca Cola changed to HFCS (Hi-Fructose Corn Syrup) no longer using natural cane sugar in its popular drink (Mexican Coca Cola still uses cane sugar). The problem with HFCS is it can cause obesity by interfering with the insulin response. This is important because without an insulin response there is no suppression of appetite, which is normally induced by hyperinsulinemia. So weight is added.

Whats fucked up is we start wars and destroy nations, so that we can bring our American lifestyle and products, coca cola, McDonalds to them. India and China countries with traditionally healthy and skinny people are now grappling with obesity and diabetes.
Search the net with the words : China, India, Obesity and Diabetes, to see what I mean.

Coke isn't counterproductive to life solely for its HFCS content. Its just not true. Simple put, I don't drink it for the glucose and insulin problems that come as result of just one serving. Additionally, there is never a good time to utilize an ice cold coca-cola whereas a cup of sugary chocolate milk can be helpful to the bodies glycogen levels after a long depleting feat of energy expenditure (running, fighting, etc). Plus, milk has proteins.
Why is Coca-cola so prevalent now anyways?

There's huge amounts of salt in coke. Why? Salt makes you thirsty. You drink coke, your body uses up all the water in it trying to get rid of the all the salt, then you're thirsty again. So you drink another coke. Coke makes more money. But in order to hide the taste of salt, they have to load it with sugar. But not even real sugar. They use glucose/fructose because it's cheaper, and glucose/fructose is poison. But what do you expect from a company that started out adding cocaine to their soda?
@whocreatedyourgod I'm not sure he/she was trying to blame food companies for obesity--probably just trying to spread awareness of the dangers of drinking it.
