Here is a recipe that can take on many forms, shapes and sizes. They are a type of fritter. A fritter is a small cake made with a primary ingredient (you can use apples, bananas, or even corn as your primary ingredient) mixed with batter and fried.

  • This is not the mandazi I am used to, American versions of food are usually wierd. I am surprized he did not add any cheese, lol!

  • lost the recipe, but when I locate it I'll post it.

  • hi. Do you know how to make east african mandazi? please let me know. thanks.

  • lol, there's so many variations and ingredients to this recipe, the end result comes out different all the time. this is the american method using cake batter (definetly came out better than mine banana mandazi). I'll send you the Kenyan method, pretty similar just slightly different procedure making a world of difference in how the mandazis come out. They are all delicious non the less.

  • ummmm you forgot the egg? Shouldnt the egg & vanilla have gone in after the banana & sugar was beaten? then the dry ingreds added after that ?
