alitutde is a real pain for older carbs, i feel for this guy,,,,,,trust me i lived up in big bear for years, and we went on the trails to the look out towers(10,000 feet) and would stall all the time in my older truck, from then on when i went up there, the carb got leaned out and the air filter came off and stayed off till i got back down,,,,really sucks when you have a trailer attached,,,THATS WHY IM GLAD MY RIG I OWN NOW IS A DIESEL AND HASNT HAD A ISSUE EVER SINCE.

@TOLEMAR9 What you don't understand is most people live at sea level on the coast, the trail is over 8,000 feet above sea level, maybe higher, I can't remember exactly. But some of these old rigs don't have computers that adjust the air/fuel mixture due to the lack of oxygen at that altitude... like the Jeep in the video does. Things get complicated up there. I had to lean out the Rochester on my Chevy 350 and it still ran like crap. Not that bad though, but it did stall.

That is ridicolouse and a major safety issues. Make sure your vehicle is tuned right before you go an a trip like this. Imagine going up a very steep incline and it crapping out. Recipe for disaster.

Dude...are you in 4 low?? Your gearing seems real high right now. If that thing was in 4low it should walk right over them rocks....and adjust your float in the factory autolite carb....
