Here's Bippy after a year-and-a-half of HUS training for the Quarter Horse circuit. Just THIS MONTH we overcame a big problem. Bippy's been terrific at home, but when I get to a show, he sticks his head in the air and trots around like an open hunter. Drove. Me. Nuts. But I think we fixed the problem. Hooray!

Yes, I know, my leg is way off of him, but it is anatomically IMPOSSIBLE for me to get my leg on this horse given how short my legs are and how big he is. And that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

  • Aww... That's so sweet of you to say. Thank you very much. Bippy's been such a good boy for the past two months. I finally feel as if we're making progress. Hoory.

    Thanks for posting a comment.

  • wow!

    speachless!!

haha when we go to SOC u def have to give me some tips!!!

    haha

    hes looking great!!!!

  • Thanks, hon. We're getting there. This is lightyears ahead of where we were just a month ago so I'm pleased. We still have more work ahead of us, but it's not bad!

By the way, DartanionMom down below was ALSO at the SOC. She's in the video, too. The gal on the paint.

  • YAY he did do a ton better didn't he! this class really helped me compair D's movement and bippys and he gave me such a great ride I could cry that we were placed so "low" due to his movement. Oh well I had a blast :P and bippy did awesome muah ha ha that's what matters.

  • I think the difference in movement is more noticable at the canter, eh? You can see where he lacks that 'sweepy' leg I was telling you about. You did a good job concealing it at the trot, though. He looked MUCH better...which is why you PLACED in such a big class. Remember, I didn't. Jeesh. Getting so I'm wondering if I should share my secrets with you;) JK!!!!

  • This was shot on a WINDY (you can hear it in the video), rainy day. There were horses in the ring that went NUTS. Lots of inexperienced show people, too. I got pinched off at one point (between the pylon and the rail) to the point that my horse stopped. I think that's why we didn't place, but who knows;) Anyway, it was an INTERESTING day!

  • Hi Pam, just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy your columns in the Journal. So funny! Congrats on reaping the rewards of all the hard work with 'Bippy'.

  • Oh inexperienced show people make my day. No really, I love them, they're so much fun. Interesting days make for the best show stories.

  • Oh and yeah I totally see it at the canter. It is almost like he does a mini 'jump' in the front apposed to keeping a smooth flowing gait... ah well... what can ya do? I still love him to death :D

  • LOL I think I am just getting lucky in Showmanship that MUST be the only reason or else the judge just likes paints or something lol. I was VERY shocked that I placed in this class, especially behind all those pretty QH's! If hadn't had stopped you would have bumped me down in the ranks we BOTH know that hehe.
