Guiding Light - August 1982 - Silas Kidnaps Nola

Quint tells Tony that he followed Jamie Loomis to the Roads End Hotel on 7th Street. Tony says that he knows the place and its a dump and filled with the local sleeze. Quint says its just the kind of place Loomis would stay. Quint wants to go there to watch and keep tabs on Loomis. Tony asks how Quint is going to do that since he doesnt exactly fit in on 7th Street. Quint says that he has no choice. Tony says he knows the guy (Pauly) who owns the hotel and he can get him to watch Loomis and report his movement to them.

Mrs. Renfield finds Quint in Nolas room. He says being there comforts him and surrounds him with her presence and gives him strength to deal with what lies ahead. Mrs. Renfield says shes worried about Tony being involved because hes too curious. Quing smiles and says, Like Nola. Mrs. Renfield says, And like Nola, he may discover more than he should. Quint says theyll have to make sure he doesnt and that hes lucky to have Tonys help and that if hes going to find Nola before its too late, hes going to need all the help he can get. Mrs. Renfield agrees but states that Tony must never find out their secret. Quint wonders if protecting his secret will cost Nola her life. Quint vows to find Nola if its the last thing he does. Helena, eavesdropping at the door, hears their words.

Nola is tied up and Silas is drinking. He tells her not to get her hopes up, that hes not going to drink himself to oblivion and allow her to escape like she did on the island. He sits next to her on the cot and tells her shes starting to look good to him and runs a finger down her cheek.

Quint goes to see Tony at his office to find out if hes heard anything. He says Loomis doesnt leave the hotel. Quint thinks hes just waiting to hear from Silas. Since theres not a phone in Jamies room and Tonys friend answers the main phone, Quint suggests the man tells anyone who calls Jamie hes not in and takes a message buying them time. Tony asks again if they should call the police. Quint tells him that he knows these people and if they had any idea that the police were involved, theyd kill Nola and disappear.

Vanessa walks into the office and interrupts them. She tells Quint that Amanda wants all the major stockholders of Spaulding to be more involved and that shes holding a meeting to discuss the Lewis Oil deal. Quint says hes too busy at the moment to attend. Vanessa then tells him she just got back from vacation with Blanch Bouvier. She insists Quint knows Blanche because Trish Lewis insists she met Quint at Blanches house years ago. Quint says that as he told Vanessa before, Trish must be mistaken because he never met her before moving to Springfield. Then she asks if he knows someone named Mona Enwright. Quint says he doesnt. Vanessa tells him Mona was a friend of hers but shes dead now. She goes on to state that Mona was a poor, pathetic creature who was very dull and depressing.

Tony and Quint are back on Thornway Road. Theyre waiting for a call from Tonys friend, Pauly. Mrs. Renfield and Fritz emerge from the secret passageway carrying the Golden Cradle. Tony says, There really is a secret passageway. I didnt believe Nola to which Quint replies, It came with the house.

Tony is impressed with the Golden Cradle and Quint says its brought him nothing but bad luck from the day he found it. Tony asks how much the cradle is worth and Quint says its hard to put a value on it but itll be worth getting rid of it if Nola will be returned safely.

You have to love the fact that Tony and Quinton teaming up together to go rescue Nola is a pretty good combination.It all seems to be good for now,but just wait and see what happens.

It's great to see Quint and Tony working together to save Nola. Silas is getting creepier! LOL at Quint's response to Tony's amazement at the existence of the secret passageway: "It came with the house."
