Actually raking the gills to bleed it and then covering the eye (in this case with sand) is the most humane way of killing the fish quickly. We couldn't use gun on the beach. Remember that this fish would have slowly died in the shallows, pecked to death by hungry gulls and burned dry by the sun as it drowned, gills packed with seaweed. If I was in the position of this fish Id much prefer to meet a guy like me on the beach.. just to say..

@WatsupBroh ..we didnt sell it... that would have been illegal. we froze a bunch, smoked a bunch, ate a bunch fresh and gave a ton of it away to friends and family. Ive already said my piece about our rationale for taking the fish. if anyone still has any reasonable questions about our taking the fish after reading the whole thread, fire away... meanwhile, Im still waiting for the next "gift." also anyone who doesnt think thats a small bluefin, has probably never seen one... just sayin.. ;-)
