If you haven't heard of Virtual Zeppelin, they're amazing! From across the world they come together over the Internet to make pitch perfect covers of Led Zeppelin songs. I recently had the wonderful opportunity to play keyboards on their latest tune, Over the Hills and Far Away. My thanks to jun626, vanderbilly, jamesnorthernva, mg4150 and Munkybarz -- you guys are monster musicians and it was a thrill to play with you. --bitwonk

  • The singer is so good that he doesn't sound like someone singing in a similar style--It sounds exactly him. I mean, if I heard a recording of that dude and someone told me it was Robert Plant, I would totally believe them.

  • Agreed, James is amazing. Coming up next... Misty Mountain Hop.

  • I agree with AirTran the Bass isn't mixed properly. Otherwise good job.

  • We uploaded this video during an era when Youtube had implemented uncontrollable, extreme audio compression. If you search for Virtual Zeppelin on Vimeo, you'll hear it and it sounds fine. After an uproar from the music uploaders, YouTube has since since removed the compression. Check out Black Dog on my channel and the upcoming Misty Mountain Hop, or also Hey Bulldog, to hear how much better stuff sounds since they dropped it. -bitwonk

  • The deal at the end there with the pitch shifting... I find it infuriating when I want only a single note to shift pitch and I have all these other notes in the chord to play too. How did you pull that off? And I hope it wasn't just by recording multiple tracks because I want to do that live. :-)

  • Yeah, I did it by recording multiple tracks. The only way I can think of to do it would be to program a split on your keyboard and somehow, if even possible, assign the pitch bend to only one side of the split, which is probably not going work for you.

  • You guys must the greatest at doing this stuff. Everyone is waiting for you to get together someday real life man! I know some of you cats do individual stuff but for real you should start doing originals together. You guys are really goodl!

  • I can imagine when the singer begins his Zep set in bars, drunks become confused, not sure if it's the jukebox or what.
