On what basis can India claim ownership to the Kohinoor Diamond? It has been with the Brits since a very long time. One of our Maharajahs' presented it to the then Queen.

You probably do not have to "take" it. Why doesn't India just ask for it? Britain is so weak now, and so accommodating of "diversity," that it probably would just give it back rather than risk a confrontation. That's what happened when Red China asked for Hong Kong back (including the part which was held by Britain and not subject to a lease).

Britain is accommodating of diversity, but it loves its tradition

Hong Kong was a city full of Chinese people, not a bloody diamond. It would be less than petty to ask for it back now and utterly pointless. I really don't think the Indians care... and seeing as Britain practically invented the concept of a united, democratic Indian sub- continent it would be utterly tactless to attempt a bully job. Christ, Gandhi himself was educated in England - they can let us keep a pretty stone.

The coronation of George VI took place in May 1937. With World War II and the death of 55 million people just a few years into the future, they were standing at the edge of a pit and did not know it. The Second World War exhausted Britain economically and militarily, and it has never recovered, and the British monarch is no longer the Emperor of India.

NatesChannel - Maybe you should check out the enormous amount of money we spend each on our "jackass" polititians. As a taxpayer (and, about to be even more taxes) I have a problem with giving more and more money to be wasted on a thousand different things!

Nothing like the scions of the RCC Albertine line of the Saxe Coburg Gotha (House Windsor) feigning Protestant loyalty.

How many CCTV cameras in London alone? How 'bout those new 'enabling acts' in England, France and the US?

One wonders when supposed 'royalty' will evidence true nobility of heart? Is it even possible for them?
