http://OctaneReport.com for more. We tested the Slick Auto Mazda Miata at the Streets Of Willow racetrack. 263whp, turbocharged, 275 Hoosiers, 15x9 wheels, widebody kit and custom aerodynamics. The flat black paint even screams "aggressive". Not your average cute roadster.

  • Thanx for making the Miata less of a gay car and more of a performance machine like it should be. - thumbs up -

  • @thingk89 Uh, the paint job was done like that on purpose. It's called matte black.

  • do widebody kits effect handling? just wondering

  • Stock Internals? I love that hardtop

  • can you get a similar hard top or body kit for a 2000 miata?

  • Zoom Zoom man keep going!

  • sounds like Dave Matthews

  • @thumpetto007 my turbo kit didnt cost 1700 the MS engine did my current turbo kit cost 2500 im pushin 18 PSI and no race cars are not meant to be cheap a high performance car will never be cheap i dont care what it is its impossible to have a cheap race car

  • @monstermiataman The turbo kit they use in this car is not the 1700 dollar one you have. The car has a full cage (which I forgot to mention in my first reply, adds 2-3 grand easily) Sure, you're right about the widebody.

My original "throw a number out there" estimate of 30K was maybe 7-8 thousand dollars off, but I still can't say the Slick Auto Mazda Miata is a budget racer.

I guess I'm trying to empart is it's waaaaay more expensive to have a race car than you'd expect.

  • @thumpetto007 3-4 grand maybe if your getting the engine from the new model MS miata i bought a turbo 1.8 a few months back for mine it cost $1700 and 225 tires that isnt shit i can fit that on the factory 14s its a bit of a tight fit but they go on they only cost me 100 each bfgoodrich gforce II to be exactill agree with you on the brakes though they are fucking expensive and a custom hardtop is to but thats a custom part and widebody kit research your price on that

  • @monstermiataman Sure, maybe the engine only cost 3-4 grand. But then there's the cooling system, brakes, rims, tires (multiple sets) the widebody kit alone is at least 10 grand, hard top, paint job, aerodynamics.... I could understand if this was some average Joe's miata, and it had bolt on fender flares, 225 width tires, track brake pads and fluid, and a homemade turbo kit, that would be "not expensive."

Cars like this miata are done "on a budget" because the parts and labor are free.

  • @thumpetto007 for 30K i can get a LS3 swap and i wont even have to touch the car just ship it to the place and pay them good things about miatas they are not expensive to build
