How-to video for recording an instrument (guitar) on Garageband for the Mac.

Using the built in mic isn't horrible this isn't the best method if you are worried about quality. This shows you how to record directly from your amp.

Tips for recording with built in mic (Macbook):
-Make sure you are not charging and have few programs open to eliminate the fans ambient noises from cooling the battery/processor.

-If you want to listen to a rhythm track while recording a lead track (or any situation were this would be helpful) record while wearing headphones.

  • stop saying 'one forth' you american idiot.

  • @robo23yobo Alright, I'll go back in time a few years and do that for you.

  • Is the head phones jack on a MacBook Pro also the input?

  • @ihatenjoi Yeah to save space on the 13" they combined them into one. If you need to use both input and output at once you'd have to buy an 2-to-1 adapter but you should be fine for following this video.

  • could i just play like i normally do(with a pedal and stuff) and with this method just pass it to my computer?

  • @danielpb10 Anything that would normally come out of the amp will go to the computer.

  • Having an issue, i recorded my song, drums/guitars and all, sounds great, but once its exported as an mp3 the overall sound volume decreases. help appreciated. (Tried adjusting master and track volume already.)

  • I just lost the will to live. Could this guy be any less interested or interesting?!

  • @robo23yobo It's called English, in case you didn't know...

  • @toothydip you can use it for recording, just make sure that you go into system preferences and change it so that it says use audio port for sound input instead of sound output (headphones)

  • why is it that when i try to delete that grand piano track nothing happens

  • @toothydip Sweet! Thanks man.
