Overloaded Truck Crushes Bridge North of Beijing

A concrete bridge in the north of Beijing collapsed on Tuesday night when an overloaded truck tried to cross.

The 46-foot-long truck was estimated to be carrying 160 tons of sand.

The Baihe Bridge, which is close to Baoshan Temple, is built of steel wires and concrete on stone piers and has a bearing load of 55 tons.

The truck driver has been detained.

@kfordjake75 not the case at all. Once one section fails the rest go. The bridge functions as the cables through the concrete remain intact.A 55 ton rated bridge has a tough go when triple that weight rolls over it.
