The Queen Mother was honoured with a special 100th birthday pageant at Horse Guards Parade in London July 2000.
The Queen Mother, who is colonel in chief of 19 British and Commonwealth regiments, insisted on standing for the royal salute of 7,000 troops.
While H.M. inspected the troops the orchestra and choir filled the parade with the sound of Sir Hubert Parry's 'I was Glad'

  • What a wonderful occasion. Thank you for posting.

  • Oh, wasn't she just so wonderful! The country and other Dominions have been so fortunate, so very, very fortunate to have had her as Queen, and then Queen Mother. God bless her. May she rest in peace!
