deer populatioin in the U.S.: over 20 million
people population in the U.S.: over 311 million
........so here's the problem, humans can say that a certain species is overpopulating adn decides to shoot them down,
but isnt the human race its self overpopulating, by alot

Another thing that the Antis don't want to explain is something that is the danger of IC birth control: What happens if a non-target species were to accidentally get the drug? Can you spell Eco-disaster?
-
that's an interesting paradox right there
-
That right anti's, lets take away the deer right to reproduce and all the while take away a hunters lawful right to harvest his own meat. For those who believe in the birth control for deer, perhaps your parents should have had the IC themselves, perhaps you should be fixed ! Best pop. control, stick em and eat em !

If compensatory rebound effect is real, then how come we almost hunted deer to extinction way back when? If you do a little bit of research you will find that without hunting the deer population would increase big time. There is a state park not to far from my place and they had to start a muzzleloader season there because the deer population was so high that there was no browse for the deer. I don't understand how compensatory rebound can work if we take more does out of the population.

akin to breeding and slaughtering animals for food, compensatory rebound increases deer population so that the Div. can continue to rake in 30 percent annual revenue. No matter what the method, the reasons, the "justification," it's always wrong to kill deer."
That is why the heavily hunted states always have the most deer and high DVA's year after year.
I agree, that this vaccination project is nonsense. What we really needed is: more forest and predators to stabilise deer population.
Actually, we are the ones who need birth control. We need to stabilise our numbers in order to harvest our meat the natural way: through hunting - not by slautering domesticated and artificially made fast growing animals.
I am for a complete seperation of the wild and the so called "civilised" areas.

The only problem with increasing the predator numbers are that is will cause problems for farmers and pet owners. Coyotes are already a big problem for some areas, include LA.

I know. That's why I propose to seperate natural areas from those used for farming and housing using fences, ditches or walls.
I know, It's expensive. But that way farm animals and children would be safe.

I don't think that would even be possible. Some animals have big home ranges that cover miles and miles of land which means they need to cross roads. Plus as you said it would be expensive.
