I believe it was Neon Philarmonic . At least they were the band that I heard singing it first. Their version is vastly different to this version as it sounds like it has a synthesiser as backing. It was in the late 60's that the song came out and the synthesiser was a big deal then.

me too capri. every time I turn the tv on now (radio mostly too) I just want to turn it off. Women kickin guys butts...men beong made to look shallow and stupid.everything about it being a competition between men and women instead of a partnership or romance...I mostly hate modern times...tough days for a romantic to live in.
