We're not going to kid you; Clarkson University is located in a small town. In fact, you could say Potsdam, New York, is the quintessential college town where life naturally revolves around the University. But don't think our location means life is boring. Au contraire! Skiing, hiking, rafting, and more are all at our doorstep.

Getting here is an experience, too. There are lots of things to see and do on the way to Clarkson. Check out Joe and his mom's road trip from Albany, New York, to Potsdam, New York.

  • About seven hours, by car.

  • Wonderful, nicely done. How did you do the pics? What software did you use for editing?

  • Video was shot with a video camera mounted in a convertible. It was professionally edited in a production studio.

  • Life here revolves around a lot more than the colleges!! oh wait... no it doesn't... :P

  • You think that's a long trip, try doing that from Portland

  • Good video ... except next time ... for a faster trip, don't go thru Warrensburg ... go up thru Minerva, Route 28N ... you are on I87 longer and the trip is actually about 10 miles longer, but it's much faster ... no real little towns to slow you don't (and you don't have to travel the length of Long Lake)

  • Used to take this trip in the '60's when I was a student. Extremely remote then except for a few Road houses. No American radio stations once north of Tupper lake.

  • Yeah; Joe Indian, Blue Mountain, and Tupper Lakes. Used to take this route every college break in the '60's. Three hours of remotness. We'd fill up on gas and roast beef sandwiches from the original Arby's in Tupper Lake(they sliced the meat from a real roast - uuumm). Once north of Tupper, the American radio stations died. There was an occasional Road House, but it was very desolate. You were on your own. For an adventure - go thru the Adirondacks. It is the only way to visit Potdam.

  • Just remember Potsdam spelled backwards is MADSTOP

  • Great trip through upstate New York!

  • Avast, i love this university, and infact this is the same general route i take, through Warrensburg. Very nice
