What is Transsexualism? Facts About Being a Transsexual

I go over a few basics on transsexualism to start off the video series. Transsexuals are often very misunderstood and I hope that this video clears up some misconceptions about transgendered people. Recently the media has shined the spotlight onto the transgendered community. However because of this many transsexual individuals have been portrayed in a sensationalistic sort of way. Often these shows focus on the surgery aspect without covering basics about transsexuals or the transgendered community as a whole.

The difference between transsexual an transgender is that transsexuals feel uncomfortable with both their birth sex and gender rolls so they do something to change both. Transgender just means the latter. I am transgender ftm and am comfortable with by birth sex but not my original assigned gender roll so I have adopted the lifestyle of a boy.

If the sex of your body conflicts with your gender identity (for example, born with a male body, but feel as though your brain is female and you identify as a woman) then you are a transsexual. If you just like wearing makeup and women's clothes for fun, then you are a cross dresser.

@karmatic1110 yeah I knew that I'm just saying that there is an actual difference between the two but I know what you mean that ts, genderqueer,etc do still fall under the category of transgender.

I've always felt like I should be a female instead. These thoughts were very frequent though, just random thoughts about getting sex rearrangement surgery. But over the years I started to get uncomfortable feeling about my own self. I felt like it was wrong, and I felt awkward and ugly.

But I am now on blockers :) and I should start HRT then SRS in about 2-3 years. Hopefully shorter if I can get up the courage to come out before I leave!
