  • Dr McConnell is awesome and I loved her books. Her books contain examples from her days as a trainer and wonderful points of how we do things unintentionally that confuse our dog, who has a purely canine perspective on our actions.

This interview was incredibly short and it would have been nice to see more.

  • Let's keep in mind that it's very clear that you don't know anything about Dr. McConnell's background working with dogs - she has indeed worked with "extreme cases". In fact, her little $7 booklet on working with aggression did us a heck of a lot more good than the expensive dominance trainer wearing "Marine boots" that just made my dog's fear aggression worse.

The TV guy most definitely does not have some kind of exclusive on success with aggressive dogs like all of his fans seem to think.

  • positive training is for morons

  • HELP!!! I have a 2 month old puppy and she bites me very strong! I know she is playing, but how do I stop her?

  • "what kind of positive reinforcement do dogs use to warn each other..."

-I think the problem here is that most people don't understand that positive reinforcement training is Operant Conditioning. It's not just about giving the dog a cookie when it's sits for you. All animals LEARN through operant conditioning (lizards, dolphins, dog, humans, you name it!). They have learned this way in the wild since they were born.

Punishers and Aversives= frustration, aggression. This is why she opposes him.

  • Does that certain dog trainer have a show thats been on for 7 years?

Is this lady relates human status to dogs status as if they are the same? How can that be?

What kind of positive re-enforcement do dogs use to warn each other that they are doing wrong? I'm not sure that I understand the method you are suggesting or your animosity towards someone who is successful in the field you share.

As a matter of fact, I didn't hear much method at all.

  • Using those methods that this particular trainer uses are very harmful to the relationship between dog and owner.

He also gets bitten a lot.

  • Great video, but yes, too short, woudl have loved to hear more. Motivation over intimidation.

  • They're both pretty great. Love to hear people dispelling the dominance myth.
