I don't suppose anybody remembers TWINKLE who was a one hit wonder with her song TERRY

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sADBdkcS7_w

I suppose that particular song was based on "The leader of the pack" by the Shangri Las

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOrWhsyY7Uo

You have to love those 60's hair styles

And it was not only the girls who got in on the automotive action Jan and Dean came out with "dead man's curve"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Anq4wdZc2Ow

Or Ricky Valence's make the stock epic called "tell laura I love her"

For a complete list of songs with automotive mayhem check out the following list of car crash songs

But this poem is more of a gritty Jack Kerouac rant... a Dean Moriarty howl at the moon.

Poetry rendition by slam poet Richard Peek.
Green onions midi file slaughtered in garbageband (changed time signature... dub horns... and 130 bpm... Booker T and Steve Cropper would not recognize it)
Ratrod smoking white wall tyres in a tail spin, and the ghost of a 50's two door hard top with whitewall tyres from the past superimposing itself on the present.

Never race against a train cos it will all end badly.

  • Thanks weegingayin. That was honkin'!

  • @rpeek Well I loved that rip roaring vocal delivery. That was a rumbling V8 performance with flames shooting out the silencer. Must have had a drop of nitro in your gasoline to make it scream along like that. Tore the rubber off my tyres and left them bald.

  • Makes me wanna write a car wreck song. I can hear the sirens already. Thanks.

  • @uke5417 The crash, be it in a car or a train, is a very popular genre, then you have "the wreck of the edmund fitzgerald" or "sir patrick spens" that deal with shipwrecks. Not forgetting mining disasters, or financial crisis.

A wreck of any kind will cause the traffic to slow down, or give you a moment to take stock and to think on life's priorities.

  • Made my heart race!

  • @thelonecheeto I thought it was a great delivery full of passion. Just shows you... you get what you want and it is the end of you.

  • Love this, great footage and song.

  • Great super-positioning of the videos -- I could see the crash.

  • No I dont remember Terry by Twinkle I assume its another body count song of the highway . Hey perhaps that is the title for a new song "Body count on highway 101"....... I'll have to give that a little thought.

    Regards Les

  • @TheBeestoncowboy Do you remember Terry by Twinkle?

  • @thelonecheeto In the infospace below there is a link to a long list of car crash songs. It seems to be an ongoing tradition from the 50's even until today. Even Bruce himself did "wreck on the highway" from "the River" CD

So Mr Peek is in good company.
