Our pleasure horses pair in tandem, trotting on the lovely carriage road. This is their second tandem hitch this year; last year we started and drove them 4 times in tandem, after doing initial ground work.

Their training is helped here by a second driver while the horses are learning, as working four reins is tricky for the driver, who is also new to tandem. In regular pairs driving (side by side) the driver ("whip") holds only two reins. These Arabian-Percheron brothers have been driven as a pair for 3+ years. We are in Acadia National Park, Mt. Desert Island, Maine, circling Day Mountain.

  • @EthicalHorsemanship Thank you, this tandem driving is fun but challenging. I really admire folks who can do it in a show ring!

  • Lovely, relaxed tandem, thanks for sharing and inspiring. Scary drop off to the side!
