A talk to help explain why Catholics believe their sins can be forgiven by priests. To sin is always public and always against our faith community - the Body of Christ. Therefore we must confess our sins to part of our community - the priest.

  • Billy I hope you keep up gods work. you put it in a way that makes lots of sence. may the Father Son and Holy Spirit bless you always.

how about a talk on Mary and her virginity

well you know what god is calling you to do. again blessings from Stockton

  • Thank you. My next series of talks will be on our mother Mary. In Christ

  • Nonsense? Your homepage says you're a 'free spirit'. I guess that means free to make ignorant drive-by comments insulting other peoples' faiths? That also means, free to do whatever you like, only submitting yourself to your own authority and ego because you've found that there's no faith out there whose disciplines you can accept and still be able to justify the loose lifestyle you likely live. Consider that the Creator of the Universe is bigger than you, loves you and left you a guide..

  • We call the Bishop, to whom we must confess major transgression, a judge in Israel. The bishops' duty as a judge is to evaluate the gravity of the sin and what is necessary for reconciliation. The Bishop doesn't actually forgive the sin but gives the confessor the path which he needs to follow to reconcile himself with God and thus obtain forgiveness from God.

  • So viewers know, freedombolt's comment above is from a Mormon's perspective describing what Mormon's believe, not a Catholic's.

    Freedombolt, thanks for explaining that.

  • Since June 2009 I believe in reincarnation. How does this fit into this message of confessing my sins to a priest. Jesus taught alot of things that didn't end up in the Bible.

'Sins' like masturbation and not eating meat on Friday are 'man-made' and are not part of 'God's Law'.

The Catholic Church also says in the Creed that God created 'Heaven and Earth'. But that wording should really be 'the Universe'.

  • By his sin Adam lost the original holiness he had received from God, not only for himself but for all human beings. Adam and Eve transmitted to their descendants human nature wounded by their own first sin and hence deprived of original holiness and justice; this deprivation is called "original sin". As a result of original sin, human nature is subject to ignorance, suffering and death, and inclined to sin (called "concupiscence"). C.C.Catechism

This is the nonsense your church espouses.

  • Correct. Sorry for not mentioning that.

  • what a crock!

if you sin against someone, you have to go to the victim and ask forgiveness.

Matt 5:23-24 "Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; 24Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift."

gossiping to the priest doesn't begin the healing process between you and your brother.

James 5:16 shows NO priestly involvement.
