My grandfather filmed these scenes in Las Vegas back in the mid 1950s. Seen here are The Flamingo, The Sands, The Last Frontier, The Silver Slipper, The Sahara, The Showboat, and others. Appearing in town were Dick Shawn, The Mills Brothers, Dorothy Dandridge, Georgia Gibbs, and more.

  • I loved seeing this, as a Las Vegas resident. Its unrecognizable today, but personally I miss the small-town feel it had back in the 60's, when I moved here and on into the 70's.

  • Thanks for sharing - cool.

  • So small looking.

  • Just imagine all those peoples' trips about town forever memorialized just by chance 56 years ago! All the cars and people no doubt long gone by now!

  • I first went through Las Vegas in the summer of 1971 and other than the cars and more casinos, it still had more of this 1950s feel, then again I think the early 1970s weren't exactly a high water mark for Vegas either.

  • that's so cool! lol :D I live in Vegas! WOOT WOOT!!! I wish i could travel back in time and visit different time periods of Vegas. It would be so cool! Thanx for posting this on YouTUbe xD
