Using a PICAXE 28X1 (although any will do) to read the temperature from a DS18B20 thermometer IC and display it using a set of LEDs in binary format. The red LEDs show a value of 0 to 63 and the green LED (not shown) is set when the temperature is negative. Uses only 29 bytes of program code!

Sorry the video isn't more exciting :(

Required; 7 LEDs, DS18B20, PICAXE and 74HC595 shift chip.

  • Why not simply use a 7-segment digit, so that my grandmother can read the damn temperature.
