Episode 1 of 12.
This is a video I copied from the UPA archives a long time ago. It's probably the earliest championship game video in existence. The game was played to time, the field was 60-yards-long and the stall count was to 15. Future Hall of Famers Timba D'Urso, Frankie Bono and Jim Herrick play prominant rolls. HOFer Eric Simon appears to be an observer, HOFer Dan Roddick aka Stork is commentating along with Buzz Laughlin and the disc is HOFer the Whamo 80 mold. The game took place in Atlanta.
This episode is all pregame hype and features Glassboro's wacked warm-up routine.
As a child of Gloucester County, this brings me a lot of joy to see. As a fan of the game, it is fantastic to see the roots of a sport I love to play.
Compared to UPA reels from current and recent championships it is a bit disheartening. Brodie and his generation of players has completely changed this game and obliterated the true Spirit of the game in favor of a more ESPN friendly style of play in the dubious hope of making the game "big".
This is how to play the game, right here.
