@Ronin6575 Then you out of most people will understand that it is not very humble to bash someone over such a simple statement on the internet. If a Martial Arts practitioner is not open to friendly criticism, then how can he\she improve; after all are you not being criticized by your instructor, and even lower grades who may see or know something you don't every time you train. I for one, am open to any criticism I can get to help me improve, that's the way of Martial Arts. You should know that
@slapnut892 I am in fact, qualified to judge this and other katas. I have been a judge and referee in past decades and have 47 years of training and teaching behind me.
@Ronin6575 Oh, and you are. To bash someone over a comment like that is not very humble at all. And if you must know, my Sensei is a direct student of Morio Higaonna; that means he learn't everything from him, and believe me all his kata's from Saifa upwards are very fluid. Mind you his system of karate may not be from Naha-te, and more for competition.
It is interesting that some young inexperienced know it all has said here that this performance was not graceful. How graceful do you need to be to defend yourself in a real encounter? Goju is not necessarily a graceful style when compared to some of the Chinese systems. It is a very functional style, which is more important.
I'm a white belt because I do not do the test, but I know 11 katas learned in class 10, the heian 4, 6 Goju Ryu, but more that I learned on youtube xD
Great kata. I must learn it.
