What Are You Holding On To?

Surrender typically implies weakness, loss and defeat. Can you actually gain something by giving up? Jesus said that the only way to truly live is to fully surrender your life to Him.

In these four challenging sessions, students share real-life stories about their own struggles and triumphs in surrendering to Christ. Francis Chan examines Scripture to show students that it is only through surrendering to God that they can become who God wants them to be.

  • Begin with Matthew 22:36-38. Use it as a pillar. Hold onto it tightly. When you love someone on earth, you want to be with them all the time. You can't stop thinking about them. You want to give them everything you have. That is the love God wants. My prayer for you @Britney is that you fall deeply in love with Jesus. Spend time with Him in prayer. Learn about Him not because you have to but because you want to. God wants you. He loves you more deeply than you can imagine. Peace and grace to yo

  • @Britney, being a Christian is not about self denial. It's about loving Jesus so much that you don't WANT anything.

  • ...but I don't know what to do. Does it mean that just because there's nothing in my life to loose anymore, I can't be a disciple of Jesus? Sure I could loose family and safety but that would result in no good so it would be a waste. I guess my understanding of self denial is not too good, I'm still relatively new Christian although I'm slowly loosing the right to call myself that. I really wish that self denial came to me before...

  • What can I sacrifice? I really have nothing. I'm just a jobless student, 2nd year of college... The only thing I could sacrifice was my college education but that would be of absolutely no use. I really wish people talked more like this. I really have to pray a lot about self denial and such because I don't know what to do. Many just say that people have to believe to be saved. As much as that is true, that is starting to feel like half the story to me now. I know that self denial is a blessing

  • awesome video... heartbreaking to see that people have struggled... the good thing to know is that i am not alone in my struggles... surrendering my life to Jesus, is so hard, but it is worth it...

  • @rickmlamb1 i'll pray for you <3 And sometimes it's easy to lose track of things. Maybe you need to be a little less hard on yourself, maybe you are pushing him away. Remember this-God IS love. God is acceptance, love, and understanding and he accepts, loves, and understands who for who you are despite the trouble you are having. I'll pray that things get better. <3

  • @rickmlamb1: I am praying for you now. Please don't get bogged down with religious acts due to obligation since you are a Believer. A couple of things that keep me close to the Lord is #1) worshipping. I can't breathe if I'm not worshipping; LOL. #2) whatever I'm struggling with, say anger or loneliness, something like that, I do my own Bible study on it. This helps me dig deeper into God's Word because of my own needs, not because I'm "supposed" to. My needs drive me to the feet of the Lord

  • Amen! Thank you, Francis Chan. I discovered you today on YouTube. I will be sharing as much as I can with those I love and meet. May the Lord bless and keep you, and may He shine His face upon you and lift up His countenance on you and give you His peace forevermore as you follow Him. I can see that He is showing you new things and you are walking in faith. It's not easy, and many in the churches will judge, but long as your heart and eyes are on Jesus (Yeshua), He will be faithful to complete

  • @rickmlamb1 you got it :)

  • pray for me... i don't feel like I LOVE God with all of my heart..... i don't study the WORD daily and don't always pray. Pray I get back on track and Love our creator.
