Herzog and Vincent Ward are friends, in part because their filmmaking struggles are quite similar. After seeing Ward's The Navigator, Herzog commented that "it must have been a difficult film to make," this coming from the director of Fitzcarraldo.

The joke is that he called him Klaus, as in Klaus Kinski. I'm sure that Herzog often said "I'll see you in hell" to Kinski.

Consciousness is not enlightenment. I mean... there are plenty of people in this world whom have a highly developed consciousness but are not enlightened (or... let's just say some more devious variables are in play here). And consciousness and self awareness are two different things.

Interessante Utupia Geschichte.
Hat aber mit Schätzing nichts zu tun.

I was looking at Werner Herzog clips and ran across this one, it's been a long time since I've seen this film and I never realized Herzog was in it.
I don't think it's a great mystery though, Herzog has been known to act in films, I'm sure the director was a fan and wanted to give him a little cameo.

this is brilliant. I always wondered which scene he was meant to have appeared in. Thanks very much.
Not really a big mystery. He's playing a damned soul being tormented in Hell. The other damned are crying out their own anguish; Herzog's character is wanting to see his son.

Well the mystery and strange is in part because of the cameo appearance.
i just find it interesting, and there is no much information about it.

tienes razon, dice "your Klaus" y desde ese punto el personaje lo desconoce.
