  • your examples (like baseball cap) are very confusing -- that a

cap warn by a celebrity is _different_ than an ordinary cap

would prove the _lack_ of an essence of a cap, because that

would make caps context / history dependent. likewise personal

    teddy bear & other examples.

how do you prove the lack of intent?

what is belief? whatever other people think.

what is critical thinking? how _i_ think.

  • @Heissenburger

You missed the point, WE do the imbuing, there is nothing objectively cappish about a cap, WE decide it's purpose is to cover the head and WE decide its value, we imbue it with purpose and value and we imbue a cap worn by a celebrity to have greater intrinsic value that one that hasn't.

As far as your other comments, you're full of shit.

  • @FlyingFree333 if humans do the imbuing, then it is not the "essence"! your "full of shit" comment shows that your attitude and beliefs aren't that different from religious fanatics. they just believe differently than you.

  • @Heissenburger

Essence is a man made concept.

No, my saying you're full of shit simply means I have no patience for fools. Rhetoric and word games aren't worth my time. You want to be taken seriously don't be such a ponce.

  • Falsely attributed coincidences; pattern recognition as a function cognitive predication and the essence of the unknown, both feared and hoped to be the "savior" at the same time; is there any wonder, ancestors of our evolutionary past conjured gods when they survived close encounters with the unknowable. But like a security blanket or as Dan Dennett would say, "a nursery crop" -- it is time to shed this infantile invention that has become so unhealthy. Good monograph, thanx
