An illustration of how the BMW VALVETRONIC system works. The technology removes the need for a standard butterfly valve throttle as the intake valve does this job. The valve can be continuously adjusted between 0.0mm and 9.7mm lift. An electronic stepper motor adjusts the potion of the eccentric shaft depending on the engine operating condition. This allows for fully continuous variable valve control.

  • @erikmoua Bit of a "broad brush" statement there... a BMW engine with this wouldn't need any more maintenance than any other engine. The service intervals on Opels are every 20,000 miles (if you want), not gona cost you much in oil if you're getting it done that often.

  • complicated.. thats why euro cars cost so much to maintain.
