Sessions Delivers Opening Argument as Kagan Floor Debate Begins

Sen. Sessions argued that "In her writings, her judicial heroes, her extensive political activities, her Harvard actions to restrict the military, her hostility to Congressional actions against terrorism, her efforts to block restrictions on partial birth abortions, her Supreme Court arguments last year that Congress can ban pamphlets criticizing politicians, and perhaps most disturbing, her actions as Solicitor General whereby she failed to defend the Don't Ask Don't Tell Congressional law—a law she deeply opposed but which she promised to vigorously defend, if confirmed as Solicitor General—leaves no doubt what kind of judge she will be: an activist, liberal, progressive, politically-minded judge who will not be happy to simply decide cases but will seek to advance her causes under the guise of judging... Some raise the question of how many Republicans will vote for the nominee. Another question is how many Democrats will vote no. I call on every Senator to study the record and make an informed, independent decision."

I am a Republican. I will say that, in these dangerous times, these guys need to step it up. i can't help but think that everyone listening to Sessions are sleeping. When can we get someone with a serious commanding presence. These republicans are too laid back this far in the game.

Thank you senator Sessions. Kagan represents an anti American collectivist paradigm that has been rewriting this nation for many decades. I am quite confident she would be one of the final straws in that direction. With people like Kagan on the bench we are looking at real dynamics pushing states to seriously work on their ability to nullify federal law and even secession. It is astonishing to think that not even 250 years later we are at this perilous edge.
